Unwanted body hair of face, arms, body or legs is a constant worry to many people. Many of our patients have tried intense pulsed light (IPL) but found it uncomfortable and ineffective. Almost certainly this is because they have been treated with a first generation low-powered IPL machine.

All areas of the body can be treated, legs, chest, back, Brazilians and even the face. The energy in the form of heat is delivered to the bulb of the hair follicle where the pigment (melanin) preferentially absorbs the heat and damages the follicle leading to its destruction.

Hair must be in its growing phase for treatment to be effective. As only about one third of our hair follicles are growing at any one time, several treatments are required to achieve adequate improvement. Occasionally subsequent maintenance treatments are beneficial.
